Description47UMaOrbits es.svg |
English: Plot of the orbits of the 47 Ursae Majoris system. Orbit data taken from: Gregory & Fischer (2010), MNRAS (preprint), DOI 10.1111/j.1365-2966.2009.16233 "A Bayesian periodogram finds evidence for three planets in 47 Ursae Majoris" The orbits are plotted under the assumption of coplanarity and that all planets revolve around the star in the same direction (taken to be anticlockwise). The direction towards Earth is upwards at some unknown angle into or out of the diagram. Orbits are plotted so that the focus of each planet's orbit is at the centre-of-mass of the inner planets. Uncertainties in the orbital parameters, which are considerable for planet d, are not displayed. |
