Description
English: Cast copper alloy. Roman. 1st to 2nd century AD. Head of large trumpet brooch. Suspension loop is 14mm long with an inner diameter of 5mm. The reverse of the head has a box fitting for the spring and pin, which is now missing. Box fitting is 15mm wide. Head is plain and broken as the head narrows to form the bow. Similar examples in Hattatt's visual catalogue. Figs 185 and 187.
