[edit]Description45 oz nuggets, paltry gold rush.jpg |
English: Heavy-lifting recreational gold panning, anyone?
This facsimile is on display at Laval University, Quebec City. Monster placer gold nuggets found in the 1860's are at the top of my country's national list for humongous chunks of bling-bling. And Canada's largest gold nuggets are NOT from the world-famous Klondike gold rush in the Yukon. These nuggets are on the opposite side of the country and were hauled out of various rivers in a little-known placer gold mining district in Quebec's Eastern Townships. Several tonnes of the butter yellow metal have been recovered from ~175 years of piecemeal and minuscule placer gold mines up in the hills south of the St. Lawrence River in "la belle" province of Quebec.Français : « Fac-similé de la "pépite McDonald". »
« Trouvé en 1866 par M. Archibald McDonald sur les lots 15, 16, 17 concession Deléry, Seigneurie Rigaud - Vaudreuil (Beauce). » |
