Description

1. A Saite Official: Carved from dark granite, this statue depicts a high-ranking official from the Saite Period (26th Dynasty, 664-525 BC) of ancient Egypt. With a stern expression and hands resting on his knees, he embodies power and authority. Hieroglyphs inscribed on his kilt reveal his titles, possibly a priest or administrator. He stands tall and proud, offering a glimpse into the elite class of ancient Egyptian society.

2. Shabago Stone: This intriguing artifact, crafted from green schist, dates back to the reign of King Taharqa (25th Dynasty, 743-712 BC). Named after its discoverer, the stone depicts a curious scene: a sphinx tramples upon a group of bound figures, representing Egypt's enemies. Hieroglyphs detail the king's victories and offer prayers for continued protection. The Shabago Stone serves as a potent symbol of royal power and divine favor in ancient Egypt.

3. Stela of Prince Puhen: This intricately carved stela, made of limestone, commemorates the life and achievements of Prince Puhen, who lived during the Middle Kingdom (2050-1650 BC). Divided into registers, the stela showcases the prince's offerings to the gods, hunting expeditions, and military campaigns. Hieroglyphs narrate his life story, highlighting his piety, valor, and loyalty to the pharaoh. The Stela of Prince Puhen offers valuable insights into the social hierarchy, religious beliefs, and daily life of ancient Egyptian nobility.
