English: 330-PS-9851 ( also as 428-GX-USN 816170): “Navy’s Deep Freeze Squadron is Diversified Group.” Five member of Naval Air Development Squadron Six (VX-6) chat informally by a UC-1 “Otter” airplane at McMurdo Sound, Antarctica. They are: Arthur Barber, Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, Representative; First Lieutenant Charles Freeman, U.S. Army; Squadron Leader Kenneth Wyrdnam, RAF; Lieutenant Junior Grade John W. Hilt, USN; and Captain Joseph F. Lisicky, USMC. The squadron is comprised of some 300 naval officers and enlisted men, about a dozen members of the U.S. Marine Corps, five representatives of the U.S. Army, an RAF Officer; and a civilian. All are under military orders to the squadron which provides aerial support for scientists and Navymen on the Antarctic continent during Operation Deepfreee 60. The Marines are permanently assigned to the Navy Squadron. Army personnel are assigned on a temporary basis, observing Antarctic operations for the transportation environmental operations group.
