English: 330-PS-7239 (APS-55-230): By Atom’s Early Light. The world’s most powerful “flashbulb” was used to illuminate the scene at the Nevada Test Site where U.S. Army troops are participating in Exercise Desert Rock VI. The time was Five o’Clock in the morning; light conditions-total darkness. The photographer tripped the shutter just as the burst turned right to momentary day. The camera was set up over thirty miles away from Ground Zero. Photograph released March 30, 1955. (3/4/2015). |
