Description 330-PSA-52-61 (USN 710875): U.S. Navy donated enough polio vaccine for 160 inoculations to Cuban children via the American and Cuban Red Cross at Guantanamo Bay, March 7. Miss Dorothy Duval, Red Cross Field Director at the U.S. Naval Base, received a request for the vaccine from Cuban Red Cross Official Larry Phillips. She passed the appeal to Rear Admiral Edward J. O’Donnell, Commander of the Base, who authorized the donation. Shown at delivery of the package at the Naval Base gate are (left to right) Mr. Phillips, an unidentified Cuban driver, Lieutenant Commander J.O. Lloyd, USN, and Miss Duval.
