Description 330-PS-2598 (111-SC-43974AC): The “Eclipse Expedition” sent to Africa by the U.S. Air Force Aeronautical Chart and Information Service was under the command of Colonel Paul C. Schauer, USAF, (left). Colonel Schauer and Lieutenant Colonel Jerome C. Alexander, USAF, the Expedition Project Officer, (right) traced the path of the solar eclipse on a World global map prior to departing for the Continent of Africa with their mixed military-civilian group of scientists and observers. Photograph released April 3, 1952. (5/19/2015).
