Description
English: A cast copper alloy shoe buckle, length 46mm, width 34mm, thickness 8mm, weight 11.9g. Sub-rectangular frame which has been drilled for separate spindle, a rectangular panel flanks either side of the spindle this has a double lozenge incision on the face. The spindle, base of the chape, pin and tongue all survive. There is a pin recess on the frame. The end of the tongue has a hole through it. The buckle is a dark greenish-brown colour and the surface is slightly pitted. These buckles date from circa 1690 - 1720.
