Description

WIPO Director General Daren Tang (center), Christopher Harrison (left), Patent Analytics Manager, WIPO, and Samar Shamoon (right), Director, News and Media Division, WIPO, at a virtual press conference presenting the <a href="https://www.wipo.int/web-publications/patent-landscape-report-generative-artificial-intelligence-genai/index.html" rel="noreferrer nofollow">WIPO Patent Landscape Report on Generative AI</a> to journalists at WIPO Headquarters in Geneva, on July 1, 2024.

According to the report – which documents 54,000 generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) inventions in the decade through 2023 – China-based inventors are filing the highest number of GenAI patents, with the US, Republic of Korea, Japan and India comprising the rest of the top five locations.
