2nd century AD plate brooch
Description
English: A copper-alloy Roman brooch. An incomplete plate brooch of 2nd century AD date. The plate is lozenge shaped and measures 32mm high by 16.5mm wide and 1.25g thick. Its narrowest angles are not sharp, but squared off. The two wider angles have the remnants of attached lugs. On the reverse an intact hinge and catchplate are located at opposite corners on the longest axis of the brooch. The pin is missing. The object is worn and corroded. It weighs 3.04g.
