English: The Marine Corps has a culture all its own. Service members wear special uniforms, participate in training events and choose from over 35 different job fields. Marines with 2nd Maintenance Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group decided to shed some light on what the Marine Corps is all about and thank their greatest supporters by inviting family members and the local community to an open house at their battalion headquarters aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., April 23, 2015.“This is an opportunity for us to give a glimpse behind the curtain,” said Lt. Col. Edwin Norris, battalion commander and native of Colorado Springs, Colo. “[Others] don’t always understand what we do. We all need the support of the families in order to optimize the success of the mission.” The battalion provided fun, interactive stations throughout the open house including zodiac boat rides, night vision lanes and a simulated combat fitness test showcasing the Marine Corps and the battalion’s capabilities. They also included more than 15 booths providing information to the families about the services available for Marine Corps families. Bounce houses, corn hole, and the chili cook-off were also popular events during the open house. |
