2853 Copper alloy dress hook
Description
English: Copper alloy dress hook length 21mm, width 23mm, thickness 6mm, weight 2.99g.,The dress hook is trefoil shaped, comprising three hemispherical domes attached to a backing plate of sheet copper alloy. Each dome is decorated with an incised circle containing five to six dots. A four lobed flower is attached to the centre via a separate pin. The hook and the attachment loop are missing. Date 16th century Ref: Dress hooks of this design are relatively common. See, for instance, the silver gilt examples in the Treasure Annual Report for 2004, pages 126-127, especially numbers 264 & 268, illustrated on page 289.
