Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Still carrying its former East German (DR) number, class 243 no. 243.300 is seen at Dresden Hbf on 28 September 1991. Basically DR electrics were in the numbered 200 series with mainline diesels being in the 100 series. This was the opposite way round for the DB in the West. So, with the merging of the entire East & West German fleet, a huge renumbering exercise took place. Many classes upon re-numbering "slotted" into the gaps and in this case DB did not have a class numbered 143.
