Description

My May 2017 to southern Germany was to cover several lines that only saw a public holiday and/or weekend service during the high season. Here is another example of a branch that's only opened up certain weekends for cyclist specials. The local transport operators heavily fund the programme, but despite the exceptional weather, none of the trains I used had more than 20 passengers on at a time.

This view is Bad Wurzach, an 11km branch from Roßberg, a closed station on the Aulendorf to Kißlegg line. Despite the infrequent service the platform was build a few years before. With cyclists boarding, 629.004 is being prepared to work the return service on 28 May 2017, RB22823, 11:03 Bad Wurzach to Aulendorf.

Note the classification of the unit - a reformed and renumbered class 628 set with two power cars instead of one.

As such, there is no first class accommodation.
