Title |
2659 Medieval knife pommel fragment |
||
Description |
English: A sheet copper-alloy hilt plate for a knife pommel length 26mm, width 11mm, thickness 13mm, weight 3.08g. The object is sub-oval in shape with a wide waist that gently narrows to a curved terminal at either end. In profile the object is arched into a 'U' shape. There is a rectangular hole in the centre where the tang would have passed through, this area is encrusted in iron corrosion. The curved underside of the piece has a line of iron corrosion that would be the remains of the tang.
