Description

First of three dead end branch lines in Ústecký kraj (Ústí nad Labem region) using a good value day pass for CZK140 (approx. €5.70/£5.00) which covers trains (including tourists routes) and buses.

With an early start thanks to the hotel in Ústí nad Labem serving breakfast from 06:00 on a Sunday morning, my first line was from Děčín to Telnice. The line originally went through to Oldřichov u Duchcova but daily passenger services ceased in 2007. After a few years of various attempts to run trains at weekends as far as Krupka, the line again lost its service due to the condition of the infrastructure. In 2021 work started to carry out repairs to the line as far as Telnice. For the 2022 season, trains were reinstated at weekends / public holidays being run by KŽC Doprava.
