Description

Not the best of locations for taking photos at the start of the Sauschwänzlebahn at Blumberg-Zollhaus. No. 262 was never part of either of the national German state operated railways (Bundesbahn or Rheichsbahn) fleet, instead originating from the Frankfurt-Königsteiner Eisenbahn (FKE) built by Henschel in 1950. It was used for passenger traffic on the privately owned lines in the Frankfurt area. 1966 saw it involved in an accident causing serious damage. It was however built and survived in traffic until 1977. Originally preserved by Swiss organisation EUROVAPOR, in 2012 it was bought by Blumberger Bahnbetriebs (BB) fitted with a new boiler and has since been in regular use on the line from Blumberg to Weizen.
