Title |
23FAE4, Medieval buckle |
||
Description |
English: Remains of a Medieval buckle. Hoop thin (1.2mm) and set at a 45 degree angle to the bar, which is now missing; it was originally off-set. Some traces of gilding survive. Face of the hoop plain but marked with a single incised line along the leading edge. This form of buckle was in use in the thirteenth century when it was used to carry Limoges type enamel decoration. |
