Description
English: A fish vertebra with a large central hole. Fish vertebrae often have natural holes at the centre, however this is larger than is usually seen and may have been purposely made. A possible bead. There is some evidence of fish bones being used as rosary beads in the medieval period (Stallibrass, S, 2002, "The possible use of fish and cattle bones as rorary beads" Finds Research Group Datsheet 29 Date: Possibly Medieval to Post medieval
