| Description |
Piusa is a small station on the line from Koidula to Valga in South Eastern Estonia. Used now only for freight traffic except in the high season (late April to September) where a some trains are extended one stop beyond Koidula to Piusa. THis is to primarily to cater for visitors to the sandstone cave museum and forest walks a few minutes away from the rebuilt station. Seen here is 2-car DMU no. 2233 "Lembitu" having arrived in on train 382, 10:13 Tartu to Piusa which connects off a train from Tallinn. After dropping off passengers, the unit returns back to Koidula which is next to a large freight yard, presumably because of batter facilities for the train crew. Visitors get a 3 hour visit stay at Piusa before the return working Monday to Friday. There are two out and back services during the weekend. |
