Description

31403 posing in front of the camera at London's King's Cross on 21 March 1985.

By this date, diesel loco activity at King's Cross was very much reduced being confined to parcels workings plus sleeper services to Newcastle and Scotland which still used the station until being transferred over to Euston a few years later. Class 31/4s were generally assigned to ECS workings plus parcel trains. In this case the class 31/4 no doubt brought in the stock in from Ferme Park sidings for a sleeper service to Scotland.

I'm open to comments, but I have left the colour unadjusted on this photo taken originally on Kodachrome 64 slide film. King's Cross was renown for its sodium lighting giving photos very much a bright yellow tint.
