Shield Azure, on an augmented pale Sanguine fimbriated Or in chief a mullet and in base a gopher (S. tridecemlineatus) sejant both of the last (Or). Crest That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Minnesota Army National Guard: On a wreath of the colors Or and Azure, a sheaf of wheat Proper. Motto POUR LA PATRIE (For Native Land). Symbolism Shield The basic color of the shield is blue for Infantry. The pale is maroon edged gold ? the State colors ? and on this is charged "L'Etoile du Nord" and the gopher ? emblem of the State of Minnesota. Crest The crest is that of the Minnesota Army National Guard. Background The coat of arms was approved on 14 October 1925. It was rescinded on 2 October 1958. |
