Description
English: RORO passenger ferry, ABNAKI II - IMO 9819129; MMSI 316033138, comes out of the mist and rain, enroute between L’Etete and Deer Island, New Brunswick, Canada on August 29, 2023. The route is only 12-minutes long, but the weather is highly variable, and tides can run up to 25 feet. The ABNAKI II is a double-ended RORO passenger and vehicle self-propelled ferry.
The name of this ferry is in recognition of the Abnaki, the First Nations people who first inhabited the area. The sequential numbering of the ship name recognizes use of the same ABNACKI name by a previous ferry that served this route until 1999.
