NEW HORIZONS - PH Navy christens 2 additional FAIC Platforms, blesses upgraded Shipbuilding Center with Guest of Honor, Sen Zubiri

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Two recently-delivered Fast Attack Interdiction Craft (FAIC) Platforms of the Philippine Navy were christened on Monday, May 8 at the Naval Shipbuilding Facility Wharf here with Senate President, Senator Migz Zubiri, as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

Similar with their Predecessors in the Acero-class Patrol Gunboats of the Philippine Fleet’s Littoral Combat Force, the two new Platforms are now bearing the names of Philippine Marine Corps Heroes, BRP Gener Tinangag (PG903) and BRP Domingo Deluana (PG905).

Late Corporal Gener Tinangag was the Assistant Rifleman during the Battle of Marawi in 2017 who gallantly rescued four Fellow wounded Marines and located the Body of late 1st Lt. John Frederick Savellano before succumbing to an Enemy Sniper Shot to his Stomach.

Similarly, late Sergeant Domingo Deluana was alongside late 1st. Lt. Lolinato To-ong in Maguindanao who provided suppressive fire to cover the medical evacuation of wounded Fellow Marines until an RPG blast caught them during the Campaign against MILF in 2000.

Coinciding with the Event was the blessing Ceremony of the upgraded Shipbuilding Center of the Philippine Navy, an integral part of the FAIC Acquisition Project with Israel Shipyards Inc. that facilitates the transfer of technology to boost the PN’s Shipbuilding capability.

These Activities represent a great stride in the capacity enhancement and capability upgrade of the Philippine Navy, and a giant leap towards its vision of becoming modern and multi-capable to better protect our Seas and secure the Filipino People.
