Description
English: By: LTJG JILLIAN J OMAC PN/LTJG JAMES BENEDICT B MARIANO PN

To be part of the profession of arms as an Officer, one must go through and complete the initial entrance training. For the Philippine Navy, one of the doors to become a commissioned Naval officer is to go through the Naval Officer Candidate Course (NOCC) at the Philippine Navy Officer Candidate School (PNOCS), Naval Education, Training and Doctrine Command (NETDC).

As part of the course program, the NOCC “KATALINGKASAN” Class 36-2022, composed of 60 Probationary Ensigns and with the supervision of their Course Director, LT JAYSON ASPERIN PN, conducted their Shipboard Familiarization Tour on 29 June to 01 July 2022 aboard BRP Gregorio Del Pilar (PS15).

With the delight and honor to be chosen as the platform for such important training for the budding Probationary Ensigns, BRP Gregorio Del Pilar brimmed the three-day tour with various activities aimed to train and introduce them to the career and life aboard PN Offshore Combat Force vessel.

On the first day, the Officers of PS15 facilitated the conduct of a Virtual Orientation and Unit Briefing to familiarize the trainees to the Organization, Customs and Tradition, and Basic Information of the ship. The second day consisted of the Shipboard Tour and Orientation to the different departments, equipment and machineries, spaces and weapons systems. Furthermore, a lecture on PN Personnel Management and practical training on Semaphore and Flashing Lights were also conducted on the second day. On the third day, the ship’s force conducted a series of Shipboard Drills to demonstrate to the Probationary Ensigns the different evolutions that are being conducted aboardship. Friendly games on Basketball and E-Games between the NOCC Class 36 and the Ship’s force were also held to create a bond and strengthen the camaraderie between them.

The event was concluded with a Boodle fight and messages from the Commandant, PNOCS and the Commanding Officer, PS15, in which, they both extended their gratitude and thanks to everyone who made the event successful.

With such opportunity to share the knowledge, skills and experience, the Officers and men of BRP Gregorio Del Pilar (PS15) are very much pleased and proud to be able to help nourish the budding new seeds of the Philippine Navy.
