Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Superstition Mountain Museum, also known as the Superstition Mountain - Lost Dutchman Museum, located at 4087 East Apache Trail (Arizona State Route 88), just over the border of Apache Junction, Arizona, was founded in 1980 and is run by the Superstition Mountain Historical Society. In 1989, they rented a building at Goldfield Gold Town and opened a museum to the public in January 1990. In October 2003, the museum was moved to its current location after the Society purchased the property.

features of the museum include a 4,900 square-foot (455.23 sq m) exhibit hall, a 20-stamp gold mill, Western storefronts, a mountain man camp, a nature walk, and the "Elvis Chapel" and "Apacheland Barn", two surviving movie props donated by the Apacheland Movie Ranch after a fire caused it to close.

The "Elvis Chapel" was built in 1969 for the Elvis Presley film Charro!, a western in which Elvis did not sing, the only film in which that was the case. The chapel survived two fires at the movie ranch, in 1969 and 2004, but at some point the steeple was blown off the structure. The chapel was moved to the museum by taking it apart piece-by-piece and re-assembling and restoring it. The chapel is available for rentals for weddings.
