Summary

[edit]
Description The search for a northern goshawk can be described one way - like looking for a needle in a haystack. Northern goshawks, which have a territory of over 6,000 acres, are one of many species that wildlife biologists on the Council Ranger District monitor for the Payette National Forest. Goshawks are a sensitive species monitored by biologists to ensure the bird is protected while projects continue on the Forest. An important aspect of monitoring the population of goshawks is keeping records of nest sites across the Forest. This photo depicts a biologist searching for a nest, July 9, 2020 (Forest Service photo by Cody Allred).
