Summary
[edit]Description2019 UCLA Powell Library rear 2.jpg |
English: The Powell Library, located on Dickson Court on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is one of the original four buildings – along with Royce Hall, the Physics-Biology Building (later the Humanities Building and now Kaplan Hall), and the Chemistry Building (now Haimes Hall) – when UCLA moved in 1929 from its original campus on Vermont Street to Westwood. At the time it was called the College Library, and was renamed after Lawrence Clark Powell, the founding dean of the UCLA School of Library Science. Like the other three original buildings, Powell Library was designed by Allison & Allison in the Romanesque Revival style.
