| Description |
English: As of early 2022, this is the final photo in my series on the transition of this land in Inglewood from Hollywood Racetrack Park and Casino to the SoFi stadium complex (with the Casino on the side). No trace of the original racetrack or casino remains.
At this stage, the skeleton of the main structure is complete and being fleshed out with roofs and stands. Ponds are dug and future water features are being plumbed. And a recent early winter rain is just beginning to dry out. The Forum, in the background, is still intact, and looking pretty good. Temporary tent structures in the parking lot could be for any purpose. On the right, the closely packed cars are likely airport rentals kept aside for future use. At this point the Covid pandemic is about to start, with aviation scaled back. While I flew into and out of LAX at least several times per year since I met my Angeleno wife in 1990, my final flight into the airport as the pandemic started was in March, 2020 (alas, with no view of the SoFi). Then, while I resumed flying in mid-2021, I haven't yet been on an inbound flight with a few of this site. But I promise to put up a shot of the completed site, soon as I get the chance. |
