Description
English: From right, Farmer/Rancher Gilbert Louis III, (Acoma Pueblo), Grants, NM loves carrying on the traditions set by his father Gilbert Louis II and those of his tribe. Louis served on the 2018 U.S. Department of Agriculture Council for Native American Farming and Ranching. He also participated in the New Mexico Pueblo Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Program conducted by the New Mexico State University College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences’ Rural Agricultural Improvement and Public Affairs Project.

Acoma Pueblo is a Native American pueblo approximately 60 miles west of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Historians consider the Pueblo of Acoma to be one of the oldest and continuously inhabited communities in North America, dating back to 1150 A.D. The Acoma Pueblo tribe is a federally recognized tribal entity. USDA Photo by Lance Cheung.
