| Description |
English: The F-23 ramjet test vehicle on display at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilla, Virginia. The F-23 was used by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics to test ramjet engines. It was flown from 1950-1954 at the NACA facility at Wallops Island, Virginia. The ramjets used acetylene as fuel rammed-in air as the oxidizer. The engines each produced 4,150 newtons of thrust and flew up to an altitude of 48,460 meters. |
