你使用過維基百科(Wikipedia)嗎? 至少聽說過吧? 從前，有專家學者將各種知識，分門別類，編輯成數十冊的鉅作，稱為百科全書(Encyclopedia)，象徵人類知識的寶庫，現在在各大圖書館中，仍然可以看到這樣的珍藏。中國明代的永樂大典，以及清代的四庫全書，意旨也是一樣，累積保存人類知識的精華。

隨著知識爆炸的時代來臨，紙本的書籍，無論如何擴編，都無法容納不斷擴充創新的人類知識，所以產生了維基百科(Wikipedia)。簡單地說，它就是一套人人可以參與編輯的自由百科全書，且能不斷更新擴充，永無止境；它的精神，就是: 海納百川，有容乃大 。

現在維基百科(Wikipedia)有295種語文版本，英文版已經有五百萬以上的條目，中文版也接近一百萬條目，成為了現代人隨時可利用的知識寶庫；也是有志之士可以發揮才識，為人類文明提供貢獻的最佳園地。 而為了提倡科學中文化，將重要的知識資訊翻譯為中文，便利中文使用者吸收運用，更是極具意義的工作。

本校科普傳播學程，為了向大家介紹維基百科(Wikipedia)中文翻譯的具體做法，協助師生進入這個領域，特別於5月12日(星期六)規劃一日的工作坊，邀請中華民國維基媒體協會(簡稱「台灣維基分會」)及維基社群的專家擔任講師，並做實際條目英中翻譯演練，最後進行佳作賞析講評。機會難得，歡迎全校師生及校外人士，踴躍至本校報名系統登記參加。
