English: The Igreja Matriz in Albufeira old town, Algarve, Portugal. Igreja Matriz or Mother Church of Albufeira was built in 1782 to replace the towns older church which had stood here but had collapsed during the Earthquake of 1755. The church is located in Rua da Igreja Nova, The church was finally consecrated on the 15 July 1800 by the then Bishop of the Algarve, Dom Francisco Gomes de Avelar. |
