Summary
[edit]Description2017-09-02, Kentucky Governor's Mansion, Frankfort, Kentucky.jpg |
English: The Kentucky Governor's Mansion is a French Renaissance-style structure based on the Petit Trianon at the palace complex of Versailles in France, and replaced an earlier Georgian-style governor's mansion in downtown Frankfort that was constructed in 1798. Built in 1912-1914, the grand structure is one of many Petit Trianon clones in North America constructed in the early 20th Century in the popular surge in classical revivals during the city beautiful movement. The house compliments the state Capitol next door, and is, like that building, surrounded by well-landscaped gardens on its grounds. Today, it is home to Matt Bevin, the current governor of Kentucky, and remains an integral part of the historic state Capitol complex. |
