Summary

[edit]
Description
English: As British Rail ran down services on the Minehead branch in the 1960s they found that they didn't need the long passing loops, so when the bridge at Williton needed replacing they shortened the loop so that the new bridge only needed to carry one track. The line is now the heritage West Somerset Railway and the short loop has become an operating headache on busy days so things have had to change. In 2015 they laid in a second bridge span (for the right-hand 'up' line) and on 4 March 2016 they commissioned the new line across it. This view, taken the next day, shows the new arrangement.
