Description
English: As seen during a July 2015 cruise through Lake Huron toward Flowerpot Island, on the horizon loom two of the 19 islands that make up the dry-land portion of the Fathom Five National Marine Park in Ontario, Canada. From left to center on the horizon lies Cove Island, the largest in the archipelago with a surface area of 2,000 acres or about 3¼ square miles. It's home to both a Canadian Register of Historic Places-listed lighthouse and a diversity of wildlife including deer, rattlesnakes, and - most notoriously - black bears. The smaller Echo Island, seen to its right, is best known as the site of the wreck of the Arabia, a three-masted barque that foundered and sank in 1887 while en route to Midland with a cargo of corn.
