Deutsch: 15.05.2015 01906 Burkau/Porchow: St. Marienkirche (GMP: 51.175300,14.167578). Im Jahr 1164 wird Burkau zum ersten Mal urkundlich erwähnt. In einer Urkunde von 1312 ist die Rede von einem geistlichen Heinrich, der 1290 Pfarrer in Burkau war. Die Kirche war der Jungfrau Maria geweiht. 1517 wurde ein Teil von Burkau nebst dem Kirchlehn unter der Äbtissin Elisabeth von Teuritz an das Kloster St. Marienstern verkauft, das seit dem ein Mitspracherecht über die Kirche hat. Im Jahr 1575 ließ Wolf von Ponickau aus Elstra, der 1556 die Herrschaft von Burkau kaufte, einen steinernen Glockenturm errichten. Zur Zeit des Pfarrers Althanns der von 1721 bis 1758 amtierte, wurde die Kirche erneuert und zwar so gründlich, dass nur ein kleiner Teil der Mauern am Altarplatz stehen blieb. Es ist Gottlob Ernst von Staupitz zu danken, dass der 1725 beschlossene Erneuerungsbau in Angriff genommen wurde. Der Bau kam ins Stocken und 1731 war die Kirche z.T. noch unausgebaut. 1897/98 erfolgte ein Umbau unter der Oberleitung des Baurates Quentin. [Quelle: Gisela Pötschke September 2002].
