Summary
[edit]Description2015-01-24-15.26.16 ZS PMax Myriopteris gracillima-1 (16171774070).jpg | Myriopteris gracillima—lace lip fern. North American species of the genus Cheilanthes have recently moved to a new genus Myriopeteris. Those interested in the rationale for the move should read the article at phytokeys.pensoft.net/articles.php?id=1502. "Cheilanthes gracillima is a species of lip fern known by the common name lace lip fern. It is native to western North America, where it grows in rocky habitat from British Columbia to California to Montana. It grows clusters of frilly green leaves up to about 25 centimeters long. Each is intricately divided into segments made up of pairs of smaller segments which are oval in shape and concave and beadlike with their edges rolled under. They are also often quite hairy. The sori are located within the rolled-under margins of each tiny leaf segment." Wikipedia 'Cheilanthes gracillima'. For reference, each leaf segment on the plant pictured measures 5 mm or less. The plant photographed is located at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Parks near Berkeley, CA. |
