Summary

Description	Speakers, moderators, presenters, and panelists at the Borlaug Symposium commemorating the late Dr. Norman E. Borlaug's 100th Birthday hosted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in the Jefferson Auditorium of USDA in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, Mar. 25, 2014. The symposium highlighted current efforts addressing global hunger. The symposium panels features high school and university students, as well as, scientists and policy advisors from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), USDA and NGOs. Questions from students and interns were given priority to panelists. Lightening presentations had leading students and individuals present what they are doing to help achieve Dr. Borlaug’s vision of creating the next generation of hunger fighters. I am interested in the total development of human beings. Only by attacking the whole problem can we raise the standard of living for all people in all communities, so that they will be able to live decent lives. This is something we want for all people on this planet.” - Norman Borlaug (1914-2009). The symposium was planned in partnership with: U.S. Agency for International Development, Cornell University, Iowa State University, University of Minnesota, The Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture, Texas A&M University, and the World Food Prize.
