Probably, Eaton's aster (Symphyotrichum eatonii syn. Aster eatonii), Aster family (Asteraceae). Red Butte area near Salt Lake City, Utah. Utah native plant, but I found only one plant on this slope. Unlike S. ascendens abundant around, this plant is very robust and is characterized by a long, narrow inflorescence and completely withered basal and lower proximal leaves. This best fits to the description of S. eatonii. |
