English: VIENNA, 17 October 2014 - The DG received the credentials of the new Permanent Representative of El Salvador to UNIDO, Carmen María Gallardo Hernández. Welcoming Ambassador Gallardo Hernándes, the DG briefed her on UNIDO’s mandate of inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID). Turning to the state of discussions on the post-2015 development agenda, the DG noted the current inclusion of inclusive and sustainable industrialization in Goal 9 of the proposed Sustainable Development Goals. Furthermore, the DG laid out UNIDO’s new partnership approach and extended an invitation to the upcoming ISID Forum. Gallardo Hernánez extended her country’s appreciation for UNIDO’s work. She further voiced the wish to explore areas for closer cooperation, including with the private sector in El Salvador. Specifically, vocational training centres were identified as an area of strong interest for further collaboration. In response, the DG reaffirmed UNIDO’s continued commitment to support El Salvador’s efforts in achieving ISID.
