Melaspilea ochrothalamia Nyl. Image location: Sintra, Portugal The asci are not as usual in Arthonia spp., being more elongate. On the other hand the 1-septate spores are bigger than the species considered in the reference. Average dimensions of the spores: Me = 20 × 7.5 um ; Qe = 2.7 (N=22). Recognized by sight: Apothecia orangish to brown/vinaceous, irregularly shaped (angular to roundish). Used references: (Same) Following the key for the genus Melaspilea. Based on microscopic features: Asci with long apical beak, spores form (sole-shaped) and dimensions.
