Description

Underwoodia beatonii

Image location: Victoria, Australia

Beaton’s club. An ascomete found in sandy soil in Mallee and Coastal areas looks to associated with Mallaleuca sp. More prominent in wet years.To about 80mm. Seen in the Aireys Inlet area. Image Chewed off specimen showing X section of the hollow chambers lined with fertile material. It would be easy to assume that being eaten by mammals would spread the spore far and wide.
