| Description | Mohegan members work on Native American crafts at the Arts and Crafts center in the Mohegan Tribe Community Center and Government Building in Uncasville, CT on Nov. 19, 2013. A U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) Community Facility Loan was provided to the Mohegan Tribe for the construction of the Mohegan Tribe Community Center and Government Building in Uncasville, CT. USDA’s RD Community Facilities Programs makes and guarantees loans to develop essential community facilities in rural areas and towns of up to 20,000 in population. Loans and guarantees are available to public entities such as municipalities, counties, parishes, boroughs, and special-purpose districts, as well as to non-profit corporations and tribal governments. The 160,000 square foot building Center hosts an exhibit celebrating federal recognition, history of Mohegan Chiefs, a new Library and Archives space, new Arts and Crafts room, a new gymnasium, and a new community room to enjoy food and family. The Center will continue the Tribe’s plan for growth and meeting the needs of its members. USDA photo by Bob Nichols. |
