Summary

[edit]
Description With time to spare between trains I walked down to Roosevelt Road for a little railfanning. At left is the private sleeping car Berlin, still in American Orient Express colors; at right the Silver Quail, formerly a sleeping car on the original California Zephyr. The Berlin was originally the Placid Lake, an 11-double bedroom sleeper built by Pullman-Standard for the Union Pacific in 1956. Budd built the Silver Quail in 1952. Behind them are two Amtrak cars: a baggage car and a Viewliner sleeping car.
