Title
2012 T358 Post-Medieval gold finger-rng
Description
English: Description: Post-medieval gold posy ring. A flat band inscribed on the interior with 'Hearts united live contented' followed by an unidentifiable maker's mark, DA with a crown above in a square shield with rounded corners. The hoop is slightly squashed due to damage.

Discussion: A gold posy ring with the same inscription, dated to 1768, is located at the British Museum (Registration number AF. 1270).

The mark on the interior of 2012 T358 is not identifiable in any standard work of reference. There is therefore not enough evidence to give the ring a date pre- 1712 AD, and as such it falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.
