Deutsch: 04.07.2012 07389 Brandenstein (Ranis), Brandenstein 1: Das Schloß (GMP: 50.669422,11.555943) wird als Stammburg der Ritter von Brandenstein 1298 urkundlich erwähnt. Der kurfürstliche Kammerherr, Landrat und Kriegskommissar Ch. Adam von Breitenbauch veranlasste 1698 den Umbau des Burgpalas zum Wohnschloß im hochbarocken Stil. Das Schloß befand sich bis zur Bodenreform 1945 im Besitz derer von Breitenbauch, die sich schon 1910 in Breitenbuch umbenannt hatten. Nach dem II. Weltkrieg zunächst amerikanische und russische Kammandantur. Bis 1955 diente Schloß Brandenstein als Arbeiterwohnheim und Parteischule Leni Fleischer des Stahlwerks Maxhütte und der
Keramischen Werke Hermsdorf (KWH). Von 1955 bis 1988 war das Schloß Jugendherberge. Danach stand das Schloß leer und war dem Verfall preisgegeben. 2000 wurde das Gebäude von der Thüringer Familie Holger Kahl erworben und schrittweise renoviert und rekonstruiert. Eingangsdiele.
