Description

Accession 2012-91-1 Seabag, Handstitched Canvas 26"W x 67"L

Seabag made by Edward Ludwig Helder, Sailmaker Secind Class circa 1934. He utilized canvas sails and decorated the bag with handstitching. This includes the rating insignia for a Sailmaker with his initials at the center of the insignia. He saw service on the USS RICHMOND, USS ROCHESTER, and USS ASHEVILLE.
