Deutsch: 15.04.2011 04758 Merkwitz (Oschatz): Dorfkirche (GMP: 51.31972,13.087777). Das Gotteshaus ist aus einer romanischen Saalkirche hervorgegangen, die 1713 in barocker Gestalt erneuert wurde. Den Neubau führte der Maurermeister Johann George Hauptmann aus Lampertswalde aus. Er schuf einen schlichten, hellen Kirchenraum mit flacher Decke und dreiseitig umlaufenden Emporen. Von beherrschender Wirkung ist der 1713 errichtete Kanzelaltar, den Johann George Hauptmann in Stein ausführte. Der barocke Architekturaufbau besteht aus Säulen mit korinthischen Kapitellen, einem kräftigen Gebälk sowie einem reich bewegten Giebel mit Ziervasen. Der Altar hebt sich in leuchtendweißer Fassung von einem dunkelroten illusionistischen Vorhang ab, der 1899 auf die Rückwand gemalt wurde. Die Sandsteintaufe in Kelchform stammt aus dem 13.
